Invitation letter from Prof. Johan Moan

I and my group cordially invite you to attend a conference on Vitamin D, Sun and Human Health in Holmenkollen Park Hotel, Oslo April 28-29, 2014. The aim of our conference is to provide the latest scientific news about vitamin D deficiency, supplementation, sun exposure, and general health benefits from adequate vitamin D levels. The conference is mainly aimed for health workers, medical doctors and researchers.

Worldwide, there is an enormous scientific progress in the fields covered by this conference. From a single, narrow aspect - vitamin D and bone health - the field has expanded to a number of other fields recently brought to attention; internal cancers, diabetes, heart disease, MS and several mental disorders. Our contributors are world leading scientists who will give overviews and focused lectures on these topics. We will discuss the relative significance of vitamin D from sun and from food and supplements, and optimal levels of intake and of vitamin D status. We will also discuss potentially negative effects of too high vitamin D levels. Finally, we will have updates about health effects of sun exposure, negative as well as positive ones. The latter certainly include other pathways than vitamin D generation.

We hope to bring together researchers and medical doctors for scientific discussions, exchange of new ideas, establishing new collaborations for your future research, publishing and conference/ seminar organization.

We are looking forward to welcome you in Oslo!

Prof. Johan Moan
